2nd Be-Optical School, May 2-5, Torun, Poland.
2-5 May 2017, Torun, Poland

Intermediate courses on Biophotonics, Biomedical Imaging, cardiac electrophysiology and optogenetics:
High-resolution Optical Imaging, Tissue Optics and Data Analysis
The chair of this event is Dr. Ireneusz Grulkowski and the co-chair is Prof. Maciej Wojtkowski, from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Poland. The school will take place in Toruń, Poland, from 2nd to 5th May 2017. The core of this four-day school consists in a series of interdisciplinary courses presented by members of BE-OPTICAL, which are experts in their fields, as well as external invited lecturers, who will complement the network’s training capacity. The courses will have at least 6 hours of lectures.
COURSES:
Tissue Optics: light transport in tissue, measurement and analysis of reflectance and fluorescence spectra, modelling and video techniques, laser therapy.
Super-resolution Optical Technologies: overview of different imaging modalities (SOFI, PALM/STORM, STED) and detection approaches, imaging devices such as microscopes, hand held probes and catheters, in vitro and in vivo studies.
Statistics, data analysis and classification tools: linear and nonlinear time series analysis, delay reconstruction, ordinal patterns, support vector machines, nearest neighbours classifier, feature selection, surrogate data and hypothesis testing, information flow, statistics for clinical studies (t-test, ANOVA, Bland and Altman plots etc).
